I find that Royalty often have some of the most beautiful and fabulous names. I spend hours looking through their names, each time finding something new or unexpected. Today, I'm featuring a list taken from the names of French consorts throughout history. There are some really unusual ones here, and others are downright weird.

  1. Some of these are super weird and funny (Richardis, Frederonne, Eadgifu, etc.) but there are some real gems here as well. I love Adele and Adelaide, and I really like Richilde and Ermentrude for some reason! Rozala is pretty too. I'm also totally fascinated by Theodrate. Can you find any history/origins/etc. behind it?

    1. I love Richilde (I think it has a nice sound) and Ermentrude as well. Theodrate is a hard one to find info on. I did find an Abbess named Irmina, who changed her name to Theodrate later on, but that's about it.
