Known as much for their beauty and style as for their multiple marriages, the three Gabor sisters, all actresses and socialites in their own rights, were an interesting bunch. Born in Hungary to  Vilmos Gábor, a soldier, and Janka "Jolie" Tillman, her nickname being the French word for "pretty", though she purported her name was Jancsi, a name for boys', saying that it was because her parents were so eager to have one. Jolie was born to a Jewish couple from Galicia, and owned a jewelry shop called "The Diamond House".
